Police said the attack was reported at 12.35 BST on Tuesday, after two 15-year-old girls were approached on a path in Adderley Green.

They were near a field off Short Bambury Street when they were both sexually assaulted, police said.

The girls walked away and told someone who was in the area about what happened.

A 39-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and possession of cannabis.

The force added that the man remained in custody for questioning on Wednesday, and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
