Man found dead in city river was in his 70s

A man who was found dead in a Norwich river is believed to be in his 70s and his death is not thought to be suspicious.

Norfolk Police said it was continuing efforts to trace his next of kin after officers were called to Foundry Bridge on Prince of Wales Road at about 12:45 GMT on Tuesday.

The man was removed from the River Wensum and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he had been "provisionally identified" pending formal identification by the coroner's office.

The force said: "The death is being treated as unexplained but not currently believed to be suspicious."

It appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
