New homes could replace the former Phoenix School which closed in 2013

A former school could be replaced by a housing development with more than 200 homes.

Telford and Wrekin Council has published proposals to redevelop the site of the Phoenix School in Dawley and said it would be made up of houses, bungalows and apartments.

It would also include specialist accommodation to support independent living, along with a play area and allotments.

The school closed in 2013 and its buildings were demolished the following year.

The council said the 212-dwelling scheme would include a range of one, two, three and four bedroom homes, retirement living apartments and bungalows.

It also promised "extensive planting" in the surrounding area to the nearby Dawley Nature Reserve.

The plans will go on show on the evening of 11 October at Dawley House - on Burton Street - and will also be available to see on the council's website.
