Woman dies and man arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died with suspected stab wounds.

Police said they were called at about 01:45 BST to reports of a serious assault on the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Tredworth, Gloucester.

A woman died at the scene and a man in his 30s, who remains in custody, was arrested.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage, particularly any which covers Dora Walk, Paul Street and Tarrington Road, has been asked to contact Gloucestershire Police.

A spokesperson for the force said enquiries were ongoing to inform the woman's next of kin.

They added: "The Major Crime Investigation Team is in the early stages of an investigation, and at this time, it is believed that those involved were known to each other."

Police cordons remain in place around Paul Street and Tarrington Road.
