Anti-littering rubbish sculpture to tour district

The artwork will tour the district to remind people to keep the New Forest tidy

A sculpture made entirely from rubbish and recycled materials will tour a Hampshire district.

New Forest District Council said The Anthropogenic Nest will be part of an ongoing project to cut littering.

It will take pride of place at the authority's stand at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show at the end of this month.

Local artists Stephanie James and Vanessa Collingridge showed off the artwork's progress last month.

Ms James said the artwork "represents home" and is "meant to be nurturing".

"We don't want to litter our own home so we shouldn't be littering anyone else's home," she said.

A willow frame is being layered with crisp packets and bottle tops.

"Though the sculpture will degrade, the litter will remain for long after and there will be a further message about litter responsibility with that," Ms James added.
