A sheep farmer's lambing-based parody of the Only Fools and Horses theme tune has gone viral on social media.

Tom Carlisle said the idea for the song came while he writing a shopping list in preparation for the busiest time of the year on his Yorkshire Dales farm.

The song and its accompanying video has gone on to amass more than 400,000 views on Instagram.

Mr Carlisle told BBC Radio York: "I was reading through this list and I was thinking 'stomach tube, vet lube - that sounds a bit like the Only Fools and Horses introduction where Del Boy's listing all the strange things that he's selling on his dodgy market stall'."

He added: "I just had about 10 minutes and I started organising a bit of a list. All of a sudden I was like 'this is coming together'."

The fifth-generation farmer said he decided to make the video in an effort to "raise a smile on people's faces".

He said: "Getting a backing track and putting it all together took a bit of time, but I hope it was worthwhile."

With around 1,000 lambs set be born on his farm in the coming weeks, Mr Carlisle said while lambing time was tough, he "absolutely loved" the farming lifestyle.

He added: "No two days are the same.

"I've got a young family [and] having my little boy William growing up on the farm I think is fantastic."
