A man has admitted kidnapping a girl with the intention of raping her.
Matthew Hindhaugh, 22, also pleaded guilty to assaulting and intentionally strangling the child in February when he appeared at Durham Crown Court.
Hindhaugh, of Rowan Place in Newton Aycliffe, was remanded into custody to be sentenced in June.
Judge Richard Clews said a prison term was "inevitable".
Hindhaugh admitted eight charges including kidnapping a girl aged under 16, doing so with the intention to commit rape, assault causing actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation and possession of a samurai sword, all committed on 27 February.
He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, including 171 in the most serious category, between May 2015 and September 2024.
Judge Clews said Hindhaugh's crimes were "very serious" and the court needed more information about him before sentencing him.
Sentencing was adjourned for probation and psychiatric reports.
