The death of a 27-year-old woman which sparked the launch of a murder investigation was no longer being treated as suspicious, police have said.

Abbie Leigh Downing was found seriously injured at a house on Plowmans Way in Wingfield, Rotherham, at about 03:45 BST on 25 August 2023.

Ms Downing died later in hospital and a 28-year-old man was questioned by police in connection with her death before being bailed.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Following a pathology report, the death is no longer being treated as suspicious and the suspect will face no further action in relation to the murder investigation."
