Rail services cancelled after person hit by train

Rail passengers in the East of England face delays and cancellations after a person was hit by a train.

Network Rail posted on its website, external at 21:15 BST, saying a person had been struck between Ipswich and Stowmarket.

Services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, Colchester and Peterborough, and Ipswich and Cambridge were affected while emergency services were on scene.

Network Rail said disruption was likely until the end of the day.

It added: "If you've been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to.

"You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."
