Two 16-year-olds have been arrested following a police investigation into the final movements of a teenage boy in Cheshire.

Jonty Evans was found dead in the River Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, on 1 September.

The pair from Crewe, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of assault.

They have since been released on conditional bail, according to Cheshire Police.

Jonty's family and friends appealed on social media for people to help find him after he went missing on 30 August. His body was found two days later.

A crowdfunding page to raise money for his funeral has so raised more than £5,000, exceeding its original £4,000 target.

Anyone with any dashcam or doorbell footage, or any information relating to incident is asked to contact police.
