One man was arrested and two others had illegal drugs seized as police clamped down on drug use in pubs.

Officers took a sniffer dog to five pubs in Torpoint as part of the major crackdown on illegal drugs on Saturday.

Class A drugs were found and officers also spotted a motorist showing "suspicious behaviour". They discovered he was wanted for possession of controlled drugs, leading to his arrest.

Sgt Dan Lewis said: "These operations are vital in making sure we're playing our part in keeping people safe by disrupting drug supply and other drug related offences."

He added: "It shows communities that we're proactive; that we take drugs off the streets, target drug suppliers and work with licensed premises to keep people safe.

"We'll continue to work with local businesses, licenced premises, communities, and partner agencies to tackle drug use and supply."

During the operation, officers visited The Standard Inn, Torpoint.

Richard Cambridge, the pub owner, said: "It's always a surprise when they walk through the door.

"I am actually quite pleased they are here and exerting their presence.

"The fact that they do these operations without anyone knowing is fantastic."
