Road closures have been put in place after a bus fire.
Cumbria Police said emergency services were responding to the blaze on the A595 Distington bypass between Lillyhall and Whitehaven.
Stagecoach has confirmed that the bus involved was one of their fleet, but was out of service at the time and no passengers were on board.
Police said the A595 northbound was closed and was "likely to remain so for some time". Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said it had sent fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven and Frizington to the scene.
The force also said there were currently no reported injuries and asked motorists to avoid the area where possible.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach said: "An internal investigation is under way to establish the cause and we are liaising closely with Cumbria Police."
