A man has died after falling about 30ft (9m) into an empty silo at a factory, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has said.
Merseyside Police confirmed the 45-year-old, whose next of kin has been informed, died at the scene in the Speke area of Liverpool.
The force said emergency services responded to reports of an "industrial incident" in Woodend Avenue shortly after 19:20 BST on Monday.
An investigation, involving the police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE), is under way to establish what happened.
HSE inspectors were due to arrive at the scene on Tuesday morning.
The fire service said gas readings taken at the scene were found to be normal.
