The speed limit on a dual carriageway has returned to 70mph after nearly a year and a half.
The limit on the A1058 Coast Road in North Tyneside was lowered to 50mph between Newcastle's Wills Building and the Silverlink junction in October 2023 as a safety precaution.
Work was needed to to correct corrosion to the road's central reservation safety barrier, which has now been completed.
The council said the higher speed limit had been reinstated and signs on the road had been updated to reflect the change.
