The stars of Netflix fantasy drama The Witcher have revealed they were left stranded on a boat on a north Wales lake when "19th Century bombs" were found nearby.

In an promotional interview about the show's fourth season, Liam Hemsworth and co-star Joey Batey spoke about how they had "a pretty exciting time in Wales" while filming on Llyn Padarn in Gwynedd.

Batey explained the cast spent two weeks on a boat and one day were told by crew on shore that they had to stay on the water.

"There were no crew on the boat - there was just us hiding protein bars and snacks around this raft - and then we radioed 'can we come back to shore please' and they said 'well, don't panic'," Batey said.

The actors were then told the bomb squad were on their way.

Batey recalled the crew telling them that "the safest place for you now is on the boat".

He also said the reaction of fellow actor Laurence Fishburne, who plays Emiel Regis, made him laugh "so much".

"You just went 'of course there is - what else would there be?'," he joked with Fishburne in the interview.

Hemsworth said that when he returned to his trailer, he heard a loud bang.

"I was in my trailer and I was eating lunch, and then I heard this explosion, and I was like 'it couldn't have been the bomb exploding? Is everyone alright?'," he said.

Former The Witcher lead actor Henry Cavill was replaced as main character Geralt of Rivia by Hemsworth in the latest season of the Netflix show, which is based on a popular series of novels and video games.
