A bird of prey that was found stunned and unable to fly has been released back into the wild after being nursed back to health.

The GSPCA ambulance warden was called to reports of a poorly buzzard that was found in a field on 12 August.

On arrival, the warden found the bird who had a dropped wing and was looking stunned.

Minnie, as the bird was named, was transported to the GSPCA where she was cared for.

Yvonne Chauvel, GSPCA Animal Care Supervisor, said: "After a few days in our wildlife hospital, she was showing good signs of recovery, so we moved her into one of our rehab aviaries.

"There she improved to the point where we decided she was fit for the wild and on a sunny afternoon, on August 23, myself and work colleague Ana opened the release hatch and she certainly didn’t hang around.

"We do love to see wildlife back in the wild and it was a wonderful release," she added.
