A charity in Guernsey is searching for a new heated pool for their loggerhead turtle, Barnacle Bill.

The female turtle was found washed up on the west coast of Guernsey on 6 November, after Storm Ciarán.

The loggerhead has been in the care of the GSPCA, which said she had been growing and putting weight on ever since.

However, the charity has faced a few issues with paperwork in its bid to take the turtle to somewhere she could be released - with Cape Verde and Turkey currently being considered.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA manager, said: "The most important thing is we need to get Barnacle Bill back where she belongs as she is growing every day and we are appealing to find her much larger swimming quarters as we continue to care for her.

"If you can help with a heated pool for her ideally around four feet squared or larger and pumps please do call or email us."
