Flood warnings have been issued for Warwickshire amid fears over rising river levels.

Some cover the Gog Brook, near Warwick, the River Alne in Aston Cantlow and the River Swift in Rugby.

It follows prolonged heavy rainfall in the wake of Storm Gerrit.

Trains were not running between Whitlocks End station in Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon station until about 21:45 GMT following flooding, National Rail said.

Earlier, Stagecoach Midlands said flooding was affecting services between Coventry and Rugby, with others reporting standing water at Lawford Bridge.

One flood warning related to the River Arrow and River Alne at Alcester and Oversley Mill, while another warning applied to the River Blythe at Earlswood. A further was put in place on the River Alne at Bird in Hand.

The Environment Agency (EA) has urged people living between Hampton Road and Lodge Crescent in Budbrooke to take action.

It said residents should use any flood protection.

The EA also told people to move pets, valuables and cars to safety and switch off electricity and gas in the event of flooding.
