Historical images of Birkenhead have been published as part of an extensive collection at the town's reference library.
They show Hamilton Square, which has the most Grade I listed buildings outside of London, and the Argyle Theatre that was lost in the Blitz of World War Two.
Other familiar venues include the George and Dragon pub and ABC Cinema.
The collection includes more than 25,000 digitised photographs, historical maps, and about 16,000 local history items.
