Plans to build a three-storey apartment block and shop in Wolverhampton city centre have been submitted.

Eight flats and a space for a gym or office would be built on land at the back of Worcester Street under the proposals.

A community space would also be created for residents with accessible routes throughout the building, the plans said.

Applicant Brick & Block Solutions Ltd said the work aimed to "enhance the unique character of the Southside region" and create a "thriving community".

Outdoor spaces including balconies and communal areas would also be created with "sensory elements".

Locally sourced bricks and lime for cement would be used to reduce the development's carbon footprint, while a "living wall" would wrap around the building, according to the plans.

It would also feature a green roof with solar panels.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
