A man has been arrested after a woman was pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted.

Suffolk Police said the victim, in her 30s, was running along a path off Iliffe Way, in Stowmarket, between 05:45 GMT and 06:00 on Wednesday, when she was approached and sexually assaulted by an unknown man.

Officers said a 38-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault and was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remained.

Det Ch Insp Matt Adams said: "It's still very early in our investigation and we continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact us."

The force said there would be an increased police presence in the area while an investigation took place.

"The victim continues to be supported by specialist officers," Det Ch Insp Adams said.
