New block with 22 flats could be built in town

A three-storey apartment block with 22 flats could be built in a town centre.
Landex Limited submitted plans to Ipswich Borough Council to build on vacant land at Fore Street.
Planning permission had previously been granted in April 2008 for the site to host a residential block with 58 student bedrooms, but design and site work was stopped two months later due to financial difficulties.
According to Local Democracy Reporting Service, Landex Ltd bought the site in 2011 and proposed to build storage for 48 bikes alongside the new homes.
In planning documents, the developer said: “The proposals will provide attractive and well-designed residential accommodation which addresses an acute housing shortage and will have no adverse effect on the surrounding amenities.”
Suffolk Police commented on the plans and suggested additional safety measures for the development including CCTV, access control systems, viewing panels, and a secure perimeter.
