A man has admitted smuggling people into the UK from France, a court has heard.

Rasty Hassan, 27, pleaded guilty that between 1 August 2024 and 18 September 2024 he conspired with others to organise a boat trip across the English Channel for a number of adults and children who were not UK nationals.

Mr Hassan was one of nine people stranded on a boat 10 miles off Berry Head, Devon, in September 2024 who were rescued by an RNLI crew, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in August.
