Motorbike crash leaves rider critically injured

A motorbike rider has been taken to hospital with injuries currently described as critical after colliding with a car.

Emergency services were called at 06:45 GMT on Sunday to the scene near the A38 Bridgwater Road, close to its junction with the A358 Toneway in Taunton, Somerset.

Avon and Somerset Police said the driver of the Skoda Fabia involved was uninjured in the crash.

Bridgwater Road is likely to be closed between Laxton Road and the Toneway for much of the morning and people are urged to seek alternative routes.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which may assist with their investigation to come forward.
