Two swimmers had to be rescued by helicopter after they got stranded on rocks in East Devon.

The incident happened at 18:26 BST on Sunday when coastguard teams were contacted by members of the public at Sandy Beach, Exmouth, who said the swimmers had got into difficulty at sea and were stranded on rocks.

Exmouth RNLI, Beer Coastguard Rescue team and ambulance services arrived at the scene but "complex conditions" meant the inshore lifeboat could not reach the swimmers.

In the end they were brought safely ashore by the Coastguard helicopter.
