Work is set to start on a purpose-built cycle track in Worcester.

The go-ahead for Battenhall Park pump track was given in January with a similar layout and design as others in the area, the city council said.

Contractors are due to start during the week commencing 23 September with the project taking about a month overall.

“The pump track will provide a safe and controlled environment where people of all ages can develop their cycle skills and confidence," councillor Hannah Cooper said.

The track will be suitable for people of all ages and skill levels using a standard or adaptive bike, scooter, skateboard, or roller blades, the council said.

“The facility will also allow people to develop social and life skills with friends. The pump track will be similar to those in other parts of Worcestershire which have been very successful," added Cooper, vice chair of the council’s place and economic development committee.

“I look forward to seeing the track opened and people of all ages enjoying the free facility.”
