Three arrests after man and woman assaulted

Three people have been arrested following an assault on a man and a woman in Hanley, Staffordshire Police have said.

Police were called to Tontine Street, outside the Market Tavern pub, at about 00:40 BST on Sunday after reports that two people had been attacked.

The man and woman were taken to hospital by ambulance, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Two men, both aged 30 and from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, while a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact them.
