A man accused of murdering the mother of his two sons nearly a year ago has been told he must wait another six months before going on trial.

Carol Georgiou, 42, died after being injured at a house in Holywell Place, Milton Keynes, on 2 November 2024, police have said.

Andrew Georgiou, 44, of Holywell Place, Milton Keynes, has denied murder, and a trial was due to start on 1 December.

However, Judge Jonathan Cooper told Mr Georgiou, during the latest hearing in the case at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, that the trial had been pushed back to 9 March.

He remanded Mr Georgiou in custody and indicated that further pre-trial hearings would be staged later this month and in January.

The judge discussed administrative issues with barristers representing the prosecution and defence at Friday's hearing.

Mr Georgiou, who was charged with murder in July, attended the hearing via an online link from a prison where he is being held on remand.

Relatives have paid tribute to Ms Georgiou, in a statement released by police, and said she "cherished her role as a mother to her sons".
