The family of a woman who police believe may have been murdered have paid tribute to her, saying she had a "kind heart".

Carol Georgiou, 42, was found injured inside a house on Holywell Place, Milton Keynes, in the early hours of Saturday 2 November and later died in hospital.

A man arrested on suspicion of her murder has been released on police bail.

Ms Georgiou’s family said she had a "kind heart, infectious smile, and willingness to help others".

"She cherished her role as a mother to her sons and brought joy and laughter wherever she went," a statement issued through Thames Valley Police said.

"Her passing has left a deep void in our family, and we are struggling to imagine life without her.

"We will always treasure her warm smile, loving embraces, and witty sense of humour.

"Our main focus now is on supporting Carol's sons and each other during this challenging time."

Police said a murder investigation was under way.

Earlier this month, the force confirmed a post-mortem examination had been conducted, but the cause of Ms Georgiou's death was still to be determined.

They said "further forensic tests" were required.

Ms Georgiou’s family said a "celebration of Carol's life" would be held in the coming months, and that they wanted privacy to "come to terms with the sudden departure of our beloved Carol".
