Fire crews have been attending a fire at a decommissioned oil tank.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the Thames Oilport in Coryton, Essex, at about 14:47 BST to attend to a small fire at the base of a former tank.

Mark Eaglestone, a group manager at the fire service, said: "The tanker was in the process of being demolished and the hot works have caused a small fire at the base of the tanker.

"The tanker did used to hold kerosene so there are small pockets of the product remaining."

He said the incident had been "downgraded" to four fire engines and firefighters would remain on the scene to extinguish and monitor any hot spots at the site.

No injuries have been reported.
