The family of a woman whose death prompted a murder investigation have described her as "an amazing woman who everyone loved".

Leicestershire Police said Ellen Cook was found in Biddle Road in Littlethorpe, near Narborough, in Leicestershire, on Sunday evening, where the 72-year-old was pronounced dead.

In a statement, Mrs Cook's family said: "She was a wonderful woman, so positive, and she saw the best in everyone and everything. She always put others before herself, and the family will miss her forever."

The family said words could not express how much they loved her.

Daniel Cook, 39, of Atkinson Road in Ashby, appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday after being charged with murder.

He is next due to appear at the same court on 21 July.
