Plans to convert a former pub in Nottingham into student accommodation have been given the go-ahead.

Nottingham City Council has approved an application to convert the empty Nottingham Legend pub in Lower Parliament Street into a six-storey block of student flats.

According to planning documents, the site is currently unoccupied after the pub closed its doors in 2023.

Documents state the proposed development - which would consist of 59 apartments - would provide "high quality" student accommodation.

In 2021, plans were granted to knock down the pub and build a five-storey block of 40 student flats, however the proposals did not progress, plans said.

"The proposed scheme is designed to make a positive architectural contribution to the immediate streetscape, in line with the regeneration of the wider area," the application stated.

"It will offer high quality student accommodation in a sustainable location, helping to meet the under-provision in the city."
