Plans for 330-bed student flats for Broad Marsh area

The plans would create about 330 new student beds if approved

Plans have been unveiled to build a 330-bed student block overlooking the redeveloped Broad Marsh area in Nottingham.
Developers Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates said they wanted to regenerate the former Hanson House area, which is close to the Broad Marsh Green Heart park, library and bus station.
The development would include self-contained studios, study and quiet rooms, social lounges, exercise space, cinema rooms and private roof terrace.
A public consultation for the proposals is being held at Nottingham Central Library between 16:00 and 19:00 BST on Wednesday, with documents to be submitted to Nottingham City Council at a later date.
'Kickstart regeneration'
The former Broadmarsh shopping centre has remained largely derelict since previous operators intu went into administration in 2020, and the site was handed back to the city council.
A number of plans for developing the area have been discussed in recent years, including talks over a potential new tram stop.
In March government housing agency Homes England was confirmed as the buyer of the Broad Marsh site, with plans to build about 1,000 homes among the development proposals.
Rachel Wood, managing direction at Sladen Estates, said: "The existing building is in poor structural condition and these proposals represent a chance to deliver a development that contributes positively to Nottingham's future by helping to kickstart regeneration across the wider Broad Marsh area.
"Our ambition is to deliver a well-designed, well-connected scheme that goes above and beyond to provide everything a modern-day student needs - combining high-quality living spaces with dedicated study areas and social amenities that support wellbeing and community life."
