A man has been reunited with a ride to recreate a holiday photo his father took some 50 years ago.

Steve Dance, of Whittlesey, near Peterborough, shared the photo of him as a five-year-old boy riding a miniature replica steam engine on the seafront in Westward Ho! to Facebook.

Rob Braddick, whose family owned the ride, saw the post and offered to find it in storage to help recreate the photo.

Mr Dance said: "Rob Braddick was an absolute legend for recognizing the ride and then going to the trouble of digging it out of storage for a pic."

He is having to bend his head to fit under the canopy and looks too big for the ride. He is smiling and holding the steering wheel of the ride. Mr Dance joked the ride had aged better than he had

Mr Dance thanked Mr Braddick for finding the traction engine ride and placing it on the bottom of the corner of The Green, where it had originally sat outside the old amusement arcade.

He said his mother Marion loved the new photo although it had been "a bit emotional, especially having recently lost my dad, Barry".

"Despite the ride being more than a little battered around the edges, I can confidently say it's worn considerably better than I have," he added.
