A man has died and another person remains critically injured following a crash in South Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to the M18 at 02:30 BST on 7 September to reports of a collision between junctions one and two.

South Yorkshire Police said a black Audi had come off the road and crashed in a wooded area between Rotherham and Doncaster.

An 18-year-old man died at the scene and a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, the force said.

Officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.

"We are particularly keen to hear from the driver of a HGV who was travelling in the area at around the same time, and the driver of a dark coloured saloon," a force spokesperson said.
