Elderly and vulnerable adults in Angus have been warned over a scam involving fraudsters pretending to be NHS workers.

The Angus Financial Abuse Support Team (FAST) has said that a company has been cold-calling people in the area, claiming to work with the NHS, in order to access people's homes.

The company arranges an appointment and sends their employees to people's doors, with uniforms and ID similar to NHS workers.

The bogus workers then attempt to sell people hospital beds and mattress for thousands of pounds.

FAST chairperson Karen Turner said: "It's not the first time we have encountered people being targeted and asked to pay sky high prices for hospital beds or mattresses.

"We will do whatever we can to prevent anyone suffering any financial harm."

Anyone who has been targeted should contact the team on 0345 777 778 or email apu@angus.gov.uk
