A seafront cordon remains in place in Worthing as bomb disposal experts seek to deal with a suspected explosive device discovered on a beach.
HM Coastguard said it was alerted to a suspected ordnance on Thursday evening.
The operation was stood down on Thursday night but resumed on Friday morning, HM Coastguard said.
Littlehampton and Shoreham Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRTs) are working with an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, which is in attendance as teams asses the device.
HM Coastguard confirmed that the cordon spanned an area of 100m around the device, around the length of Heene Terrace.
