PC charged with sexual assault of 16-year-old girl

A serving police officer has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

PC James Stillman, of Devon and Cornwall Police, appeared at Exeter Magistrates' Court earlier. He is also charged with two counts of misconduct in a public office.

The sexual assault allegation relates to 3 and 4 August in Bideford, while the misconduct allegations relate to August and early September.

PC Stillman was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court in October. Devon and Cornwall Police said PC Stillman, from Appledore, had been suspended from duty following his arrest earlier this week.
