Man seriously injured in attack after 'car chase'

A man has been seriously injured after being "attacked with weapons" following what police believe was a car chase and subsequent crash.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to a tram stop in Edge Lane, Droylsden, at about 20:10 GMT on Friday.
The force said initial inquiries suggested two speeding cars were seen heading towards Manchester, "in what is believed to have been a chase".
"A car subsequently crashed and a male inside was attacked," police added.
No arrests have been made and the man remains in hospital.
Det Ch Insp Anna Barker said: "We are currently investigating the full circumstances of last night's violent incident".
She said "multiple officers" were involved in the investigation.
"While a man suffered serious injuries, we are fortunate that we are not talking about an even more serious outcome, and we are determined to locate those responsible," she added.
Anyone with information should contact Greater Manchester Police.
