An animal rescue has appealed for a home for a dog who has been treated for an "horrendous" ear condition.

Faith had "the most horrendous inner ears" which were probably caused by a series of untreated ear infections, Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue said.

She was given steroids to treat them and future vet care for her ears would be covered by the charity, they added.

"We can’t even begin to imagine how painful this has been for her," a volunteer said.

Faith, who was about three years old, was found abandoned in Leominster, Herefordshire, in November.

The charity said it understood she was imported into the UK as a puppy with cropped ears.

Ear cropping was illegal in the UK and was unnecessary and painful with no welfare benefit, the British Veterinary Association, external said.

She was a pocket bully but did not meet the requirements to be classed as an American bully XL, the volunteer added.

It will be illegal to own a bully XL in England and Wales from 1 February.

"We understand this poor little lady has been passed from pillar to post in her short life," they said.

"Faith is the sweetest little poppet, very submissive but as soon as she realises she can trust you she wants to be attached to you, she desperately craves attention, kindness and love."

The rescue was looking for a "very experienced dog owner and lover" who will "cherish and protect this young lady" and said they should contact the charity.
