Emergency services were called to Rathven, near Buckie, shortly after 06:00 on Tuesday.

Police Scotland said a 74-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS)," a police statement said. "Inquiries are ongoing into the cause. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

'Thoughts with family'

The SFRS said: “Operations control mobilised three appliances to the scene and unfortunately a male was pronounced dead at the scene.
