Work to repair a 6ft-deep (1.8m) sinkhole in Norfolk has started.
The sinkhole was discovered in Garden Street, Cromer, on Friday.
Anglian Water said the 3ft-wide (1m) hole, which was "naturally occurring", had damaged its sewer.
It said repair work would begin on Wednesday and was expected to be completed by "the end of this week".
"Our engineers have already begun work over the weekend to make their working area safer," an Anglian Water spokesperson added.
"We're expecting this repair to be completed by the end of the week, after which the local highways team will get the road back to normal."
After the sinkhole was discovered, Norfolk Police closed Garden Street, between Corner Street and the A149 Church Street, over safety fears.
Garden Street leads down to Cromer Pier and links a part of the town centre with the seafront.
Charleigh Strange, Owner of Beauty Boutique Cromer said she had not known a sinkhole to appear on Garden Street in the past.
"It was quite a small hole when we first arrived on Friday morning," she said. "But it did get bigger as the day went on."
"Some of our customers who usually get dropped off at the door - maybe they can't walk so well - are struggling to get to us," she added.
