A man in his 90s has died following a crash involving the car he was driving and a van.

Officers were called to reports of a collision between a white Nissan Qashqai and a white Peugeot van on the A51 in Hixon, near Stafford, at 15:40 GMT on Monday.

Staffordshire Police said the fire and rescue service removed the driver from the car and he was taken to hospital but died later that evening.

The man's next of kin had been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers, it added.

The force has appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in contact.
