Work is set to start on a town centre street in Worcestershire as part of a project to regenerate the area.

Improvements to Chapel Street in Bromsgrove will include new stone paving, street trees, cycle parking and benches.

The work, which also includes improvements to the drainage system, is set to start on Monday and will last about 12 weeks, Worcestershire County Council confirmed.

It will be carried out Monday to Friday, during which time vehicle access will be restricted but the street will remain open to pedestrians.

It is the second phase of the town centre regenerations scheme, which has seen similar work taking place on High Street since April.

Worcestershire county councillor Marc Bayliss said the restrictions in the area had “not been easy” but said it was “pleasing” to see the results so far.

“The work has made a real difference, making the area more attractive for businesses, residents and visitors, not only improving the environment but also driving economic growth and jobs,” he added.
