A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder and rape after the death of a 13-year-old girl in Huddersfield has been released on conditional bail, police said.
Officers were called by the ambulance service to a flat on Sheepridge Road on Monday evening to reports the girl was unresponsive. She was taken to hospital where she died in the early hours of Tuesday.
A post-mortem examination found her death was unexplained pending further investigation. Police said the girl was from Greater Manchester but had been living in Liverpool.
The boy, from Huddersfield, was also released on conditional bail in relation to the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in a separate incident in Kirklees.
Both incidents remain under investigation, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
"Detectives are working to fully understand the circumstances of the girl's death which is being treated as unexplained after a post mortem could not establish how she died," they added.
