Glacial Art designed a set for HBO's Game of Thrones

Ice sculptors who designed a set for the hit TV show Game of Thrones will be performing at Boston's Christmas Festival.

Members of Glacial Art will be sculpting ice statues in front of a live audience during the festive weekend from 28 to 30 November.

An "ice trail", with five sculptures, will also be installed, alongside a fairground and stalls.

The council said this would "bring a spectacular new dimension to the festivities".

Less than a decade ago, Boston faced criticism for "dismal" Christmas lights, while in 2022 the celebrations were scaled back because of the cost of living crisis.

However, in 2023 councillors expressed a hope that the town could become a "hub" for Christmas celebrations following the loss of Lincoln Christmas Market.

Councillor Dale Broughton, the leader of Boston Borough Council, said the council was "incredibly proud" to welcome people back to the Christmas Festival.

He described the new additions as "truly magical".
