Eight suspected illegal migrants found in lorry

Eight people suspected of being illegal migrants were found in the back of a lorry off the M25, police said.

Six men and two women were found in the truck at a lorry park off junction 26 at Waltham Abbey after officers received a call at about 06:45 GMT on Tuesday.

The group were assessed by ambulance staff before being taken into custody on suspicion of immigration offences, an Essex Police spokesperson said.

The driver, arrested at the time on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry into the UK, has since been released without charge.

The eight people were still in custody and their immigration arrests were not linked to any business at the lorry park, the force added.
