Appeal after dead kittens found dumped by road

The RSPCA has appealed for information after two dead kittens were discovered by a road in North Lincolnshire.

A member of the public found the animals on Marsh Lane in Winteringham on 9 January.

The animal welfare charity said the kittens "suffered appalling injuries which don't appear to be the outcome of contact with wildlife".

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer James Dack said the route was popular with walkers and hoped that "someone may have seen something or knows something about who owned these kittens".

"At the moment we can't say for certain what happened but it does appear they have not fallen prey to wildlife - the laceration on one of the kittens looks like a surgical cut," he said.

"These deaths appear to be suspicious and it is certainly a bit bizarre to have two kittens found with injuries like these close to each other."

A year ago four kittens were found abandoned at the same location.

The RSPCA has rehomed them, but the charity said it was interested in "information about anyone locally who is known to have been trying to give up cats".
