A pop-up velodrome will be returning to Staffordshire this weekend.

The Hello Velo Street Velodrome will be at Beacon Park in Lichfield on Saturday and at Burntwood Leisure Centre on Sunday.

People aged four and over will be able to try track cycling on the angled track, free of charge.

Lichfield District Council said it was part of its efforts to get more people taking part in physical activity.

A spokesperson for the authority said it was a hit with people of all ages when it took place last year.

“One of our key aims is for Lichfield residents to be more active, more often and in different ways and the street velodrome provides an exciting opportunity to try something new,” they said.

The event will run on both days from 11:00 BST to 16:00 and there is no need to book.

People can bring their own bikes or use the bikes and safety equipment provided.

Experienced street velodrome coaches supervise the event and there will be specially adapted bikes available for people with physical disabilities.
