Tributes to 'kind' teenage boys killed in crash

Two teenagers who died in a crash have been described as "wonderful" and "kind" by their families.

Ford Ka driver Dafydd Hûw Craven-Jones, 18, and front-seat passenger Morgan Jones, 17, both from Wrexham, were killed in Saturday's single-vehicle crash on Cannock Road, Penkridge, Staffordshire Police said.

Two girls, both 17, were seriously hurt and on Tuesday officers said they remained in hospital, one in a critical condition.

Mr Craven-Jones' family said he was "a beautiful soul" while Mr Jones' family described him as "a very popular young man".

A statement released through police said everyone loved Dafydd Hûw Craven-Jones, "the baby of the family".

They said he was a "wonderful" son, brother, uncle and grandson and added he was "the kindest loving person you could wish to meet" and "would do anything for anyone".

"We can take solace that Dafydd would always go out of his way to help his friends," his family added.

"We just want to thank his friends for all the wonderful messages and memories they have shared of him and that his short life was filled with lots of love and happiness."

Messages were left for the two teenagers at the scene of the crash

Mr Jones' family said their "loving son and grandson" was a "kind caring and loving young man who we were so proud of".

They added he was an outdoor person who excelled in rugby, cricket, horse-riding and showjumping.

"He will be sadly missed by all his rugby, cricket and equestrian family and his family and friends," their statement said.

"He was passionate about farming and had secured a place at an agricultural college. He was a very popular young man and was loved by everybody."

A Welsh flag and floral tributes were left at the scene

Tributes have been left at the scene including "we will miss you forever" and "love to my little brother and his best mate".

A Welsh flag was tied to the tree where the crash was thought to have happened.

Wrexham Rugby Club said the two teenagers both played through their mini and junior teams and "had made their mark in the youth team".

The club added it had "huge sadness and a deep sense of loss at the passing of Dafydd and Morgan".

They were "good friends on and off the field of play and the void they leave will not be filled".

The club said it had been overwhelmed by messages of support from everyone who knew them and from rugby clubs in north Wales and further afield.

Sgt Richard Moors said specialist officers were supporting the young people's families.

"We ask that their privacy is respected. A full and detailed investigation is now under way to establish the cause of the collision," he stated.
